Board Chairman of ARB Apex Bank Limited, Dr Toni Aubynn who is also the Board Chairman of Amenfiman Rural Bank, has urged the government to consider a collaboration between the New Development Bank and rural and community banks for its successful implementation of core mandate.

The Board of Directors of ARB Apex Bank Limited has noted with grave concern certain developments at the Bank, Which have been published by the media and wish to state the following:

ARB Apex Bank has been admitted to the Ghana-Sweden Chamber of Commerce at a colourful ceremony in Accra.
The Association of Rural Banks, Ghana which is made of the over one hundred and forty rural banks in Ghana has launched a new corporate cloth.
The President of the Association of Rural Banks, Mr. Daniel Ohene Kwaku Owusu, has appealed to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to re-consider reviewing its directive to rural and community banks (RCBs) to halt the payment of dividend for 2019/2020 financial year.

Female staff of rural and community banks across the country have been equipped with managerial and leadership capacity development skills.

The primary objective of the training programme is to support women in the industry to take up managerial and leadership roles and also for leaders of institutions to involve women in decision making.

ARB Apex Bank has opened a multi-purpose office building in Adweso, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region, to provide a safer and conducive working environment for Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) in the region.

The GH¢3,142 million building, has a regional office branch on the ground floor, a state-of-the-art conference room on the first floor and offices for the Eastern Regional Chapter of Association of Rural Banks.

It is increasingly recognised that we live in a VUCA World, characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown how quickly major economic disruption can occur.

Leading economies suddenly see numerous businesses facing bankruptcy. The dislocation, coupled with the impact of new technology, will accelerate the pace of change. To prepare for the future, we need to explore opportunities and develop new approaches. In the context of Ghana, author of this article, who is the CEO of JCS Investments, is urging the government to collaborate with relevant entities to develop a plan that strengthens rural SME operations.

The acronym MSMEs denotes Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises.

According to the World Bank, MSMEs play a major role in most economics particularly in developing countries. It further said that MSMEs account for majority of businesses worldwide and are important contributors to job creation and global economic development.
