NEWS | News & Reports

Rural and community banks (RCBs) in the country need to put the customer at the centre of their service delivery to enhance their competitiveness in the banking industry, says George Osei-Mensah, outgoing General Manager of the Amansie West Rural Bank.

Rural and community banks (RCBs) in the country need to put the customer at the centre of their service delivery to enhance their competitiveness in the banking industry, says George Osei-Mensah, outgoing General Manager of the Amansie West Rural Bank.

He said good service delivery was critical because it provides clients with an increase in value and boost their confidence in the providers.

The General Manager therefore urged RCBs to design a service delivery system which should spur frontline employees to deliver the ultimate customer experience to facilitate growth of their operations.

Mr. Osei-Mensah was speaking at a send-off party organised for him by the Amansie West Rural Bank in Kumasi.

He said rural banks also need to come out with more innovative products to support the growth of their businesses.

RCBs, he noted, were making significant contribution to the growth of the financial sector and encouraged them to maintain strict internal controls to ensure efficiency, adding that everything should be done to protect the depositor’s money.

He expressed gratitude to the bank for the tremendous support and cooperation given to him during his 33 years of service.

Board Chairman Isaac Otchere Antwi, applauded the retiring General Manager, for his resourcefulness and strong leadership that helped to put the bank on the path of progress “Under his watch, the bank was able to build its own main office alongside the opening of three new branches”, he said.

Mr. Antwi also gave him credit for the bank’s current standing as one of the best performing in terms of profit, loan management, deposit mobilisation and asset acquisition.

Mr. Kwadwo Ayeh-Kusi, Managing Director of the ARB Apex Bank Ltd, in an address read for him, eulogised Mr. Osei-Mensah, for his managerial prowess and asked that he continued to share his rich experience with the staff of the rural banks.
